Hamlet as ensemble thriller, enjoying the character of Hamlet not as romantic here, but as immature, misogynistic, smiths-obsessed reluctant philosopher and avenger. Who in the end is really mad? Hamlet, who makes misogyny a feature of his madness, feigned or otherwise? Ophelia, who loses brother, lover and father – or the tyrannical Claudius and his bystander wife obsessed with securing their future at all costs?
