Shakespeare’s Measure for Measure (1603/04) was the first play of his that I explored as ‘dramaturg’. A 2011 workshop with the RSC had led to Joe Hill-Gibbins and I doing The Changeling at the Young Vic and this was our first opportunity to mount a full production of Shakespeare’s so-called ‘problem play’.
