...experiments in listening
Thank you for joining us our listening experiment.
These pieces will make up Wild Dress, a sonic performance work that we are developing, adapted from Kate Fletcher’s book of the same name.
We are putting these pieces out, at this early stage and unadorned, in order to hear your responses. We would like to know what engages and inspires you – and how, for you, the words interact with the landscape (urban, suburban or rural) that you decide to walk in (or sit, stand or lie).
Before you start, please choose a place or places to listen. Think about where you are going and the time of day that you’d prefer. Please also find this webpage on the phone/tablet you are planning to use to listen with, and check battery charge and headphones, to make sure that you CAN listen. You will need access to the internet.
When you have found your listening spot, select one or more of these tracks, below. At the end, you will be asked to jot down a few notes, so please have a pen and notebook to hand.
Suggestions (by no means exhaustive) for places you might select for listening
Go to your favourite place to walk
Go somewhere you have never actually walked before
Walk by water
Go where you most often hear birdsong
Once you have listened, please click here to access ways of responding. We will send you a link to a series of questions – please feel free to answer any/all, or use them to spark your own reflections – & if you would rather send us an email or a voice memo with your responses, please do – send to METIS@artsadmin.co.uk
